Everything You Need to Know

Micropigmentation is used in the medical field to enhance the final results of the plastic surgeon. Often used to camouflage facelift scars, stretch marks, breast augmentation scars, post masectomy patients to create or redesign shape of areola-nipple and correct colour.

Alopecia patients may camouflage areas with the natural looking hairstroked method, or filled in technique to provide coverage for sparse areas.

Cleft lip patients benefit from this reconstructive procedure for permanent lip shape enhancement.

Cancer patients suffering from hair loss may re-create new natural looking hairstroked eyebrows beforehand to avoid the after effects from chemo treatments. Eyelash enhancement will also simulate the look of real hair.

Vitiligo which has no known cause or cure may be camouflaged with permanent cosmetics, providing the vitiligo is not in the “spreading stage.” Vitiligo should be in a stable condition for the results to be more permanent, otherwise retouch will be needed.

A well balanced diet according to your blood type and internal cleansing of toxins will strengthen the body, which is necessary to combat this condition.

If the body is showing weakness in an area which is unknown, it is sensible to strengthen the body from the inner core.

Maintaining a stress free state of mind and positive outlook will also provide many benefits, as the mind does control the body.

What exactly is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent cosmetic makeup is the art and science of implanting color into your skin. It is putting the right color in the right place so you can look better naturally.

Specialized instruments allow your practitioner to place color into the layer of skin known as the dermis. Because the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis, is always shedding and renewing itself, you are looking at the color through a thin veil of skin.

When your procedure is completed, the color will appear darker than the final result. This is because the color is in BOTH the epidermis and the dermis. The color in the top layer will flake off during the healing process.

Will I really look like myself…Only Better?

Permanent cosmetic makeup helps replenish what time has taken away and gives back precious time you normally spend “putting on your face”.

You can save up to 100 hours in a single year that were formerly spent struggling to draw eyebrows evenly or eyeliner half-way straight.

That’s two and one-half weeks of free time plus the money you’ll save buying new and expensive cosmetics that rub off, smear, smudge and disappear during the day.

Permanent makeup is not intended to replace cosmetics completely.

Because the color is placed “in” your skin and not “on” your skin a more natural, softer look results. When you’re ready to kick up your heels and go out for a night-on-the-town, you can apply as much additional makeup as you wish.

I’m afraid of pain… Does permanent makeup have to hurt a lot?

New topical anesthetics have been developed especially for permanent make up for eyeliner, eyebrows and lip color procedures.

These creams and gels are applied to the desired area before and during the procedure to assure you of the most comfortable experience possible.

Some people describe the sensation as a “tingling” feeling. Most people experience some discomfort, especially for lip color procedures.

It is common to hear that there was not as much pain as was expected. As the anesthetic wears off after the procedure, cool packs are very soothing to the area.

How long will it take to recover?

You’ll look like you’ve had a good cry for several hours following eyeliner. It is advised to apply ice for10 minutes at a time during these first few hours.

Also, it is important to wear sunglasses as your eyes may be temporarily sensitive to light.

Eyebrow procedures have the least swelling. Lip color often involves temporary swelling. You must let your technician know if you have a history of fever blisters so your doctor can prescribe medication.

How long will my permanent makeup last?

Permanent make-up is long-lasting. However, as you become accustomed to your new makeup it’s not uncommon to want more.

You will want to freshen up your new makeup every couple of years. The darker the color, such as black, the longer it will stay unchanged in your skin.

Natural, delicate colors are oftentimes more vulnerable to the effects of sun, swimming and breakdown by the body.

No pigment is FDA approved for tattoos. Both organic and inorganic pigments may be used to achieve the desired color.

Can I remove my permanent makeup if I change my mind?

Because it’s easy to add color and difficult to take away, your technician will be conservative in the initial application of your new color.

Take advantage of the consultation to discuss your wants and needs.

It’s also a time where you and your technician choose the right colors and discuss any special requests you may have.

Your cooperation will largely determine the end result of your procedures. Remember it is a team effort .

Can I get my permanent makeup cheaper?

Remember the saying “You get what you pay for”. It saves you money and embarrassment to do right the first time! If you already have permanent makeup and wish to have changes in the shape or color, please call for a consult.

What if I have plastic or laser surgery?

Cosmetic surgery is desirable for many reasons as we age. It’s best to complete your surgery before having your makeup applied.

Laser surgery or resurfacing may result in color loss or darkening of your makeup depending on the laser and the colors in your skin.

Advise your laser surgeon that you have permanent cosmetics so that he or she can perform a “spot test” before they proceed.

If either cosmetic surgery or laser causes color loss, then it is a simple matter to have the color replaced.

Your technician can explain more about complications of cosmetic tattoos.

What exactly is Micropigmentation?

Micropigmentation, also known as cosmetic tattooing or permanent makeup, is the art and science of implanting color into your skin. Putting the right color in the right place lets you look better. Naturally.

Specialized instruments place color into the layer of skin known as the dermis. Because the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis, is always shedding and renewing itself, you are looking at the healed color through a thin veil of skin.

When your procedure is completed, the color will appear darker than the final result. This is because the color is in BOTH the epidermis and the dermis. The color in the top layer will flake off during the healing process.

Permanent makeup” is not permanent. The color fades with time and the body removes some color.

You will need to have a color boost every 1-3 years depending upon the colors used, your skin and the environment.

In Hawaii we have a lot of sunshine so brows fade faster than in Alaska. Relax and enjoy your new long lasting semi-permanent makeup. We help you look like yourself… only better. Naturally.

Are you a Candidate?

Permanent makeup makes it possible to look better around the clock and to be less self-conscious.

When you look better, you’ll feel better. Plus you’ll have more time and money to spend on the things you want — time with your family, leisure activities and that much deserved beauty sleep.

Question: How much does it cost?

Answer: The average cost per procedure varies. The cost of the procedure should not be the most important issue when consulting a potential practitioner. Payment options are available upon request.

What is Microblading method?

Microblading (or eyebrow embroidery) is a relatively new, manual method. It is considered to be semi-permanent, as compared to the traditional hairstroke technique.

It is done using a very fine blade to deposit pigments into the epidermis. Because we’re impacting color closer to the surface, the strokes appear crisp and very fine. There is no “spilling” under the skin.

This method is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows. The results are natural looking, hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of hair present.

People suffering from alopecia, trigonometrical or any other condition that causes hair loss benefit greatly from Microblading, as well as people who  simply aren’t happy with their eyebrows.

The pigments used in this method have been formulated to match your original eyebrow color, and if the eyebrows are still present, blend perfectly into them…

The results are a natural, flawless, fuller looking brow. Initially, the brows appear darker, but fade significantly over a two week period.

It is absolutely crucial to have a touch up done, as it is very difficult to predict how well the skin will retain the pigment.

The results can last anywhere from  11 to 18 months, depending on different factors affecting the procedure. However, a touch up once a year is recommended to retain the shape and saturation of pigment.

Plan a shopping trip ahead of time for items you will need.

You will need ointments, straws, napkins for blotting, Q-tips, OTC pain relievers, and a good book or movie.

Do not plan the procedure right before going on vacation because you will need about 3-7 days of healing time. You may not be able to avoid sun, wind, or other items listed in post-procedure instructions.

Permanent Makeup LIPS

If you have had any type of lip surgery, consult with the physician about how long you should wait before having a Permanent Makeup procedure on your lips. Most physicians are giving a 3 month okay on lip filler injections like collagen or Restylane.

If the lip surgery involves an incision (like a lip implant) the incision needs to mature about 1 year before tattooing on top of it.

It may be best not to have Permanent Makeup after having lip filler injections, or a lip implant within the same year.

If you get cold sores you will need an antiviral prescription.

Physicians usually instructs to begin taking it 2-3 days before procedure, and 7-10 days after the procedure to help control the viral outbreak. These prescription medication are Zorivax, Famvir, or Valtrex.
